Sterile gauze pads should generally be changed at least once every 24 hours, or sooner if they become wet, dirty, or saturated with blood or other fluids. Leaving gauze on for too long can increase the risk of infection and slow down healing. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for specific wound care.
